Is 2 × 4 in the right size?

A 2 x 4 in rectangle is a common size for 4 oz bottles, address and return labels, and the front of candle tins and jars. The label covers about 8.00 sq in (51 × 102 mm) and has room for a brand, product name and a few lines such as flavour, weight or a short description.

Designing a 2 × 4 in rectangle label

Put the brand on the top third and the details below; on narrow strips run the name along the long side. There is room for hierarchy here: one large element, one medium line and small supporting text.

2 × 4 in rectangle labels FAQ

Common
questions.

Prices and roll counts on this page are estimates. The quote builder gives your exact price before checkout, and every order starts with a free proof.

What does an order of 2 × 4 in rectangle labels cost?+

About $141.73 CAD for 1,000 ($0.142 each) and $129.08 for 250, on matte roll stock. At 5,000 the total is about $297.79, or $0.060 per label. These are approximate prices from our live price list as of October 6, 2026; the quote builder shows your exact price, including standard shipping, before you add to cart.

How many 2 × 4 in rectangle labels fit on one roll?+

Rolls are wound to order, so the count can be adjusted. Our guide figure is about 770 to 1,500 labels per single-lane roll, assuming a 3 in core and a roll up to 6 in across. The range depends on whether the long or short side runs along the roll, which follows the unwind direction you choose. Tell us in the order notes if your applicator needs something different.

Is 2 × 4 in the same as 4 × 2 in?+

Yes. Enter the width and height the way your artwork reads; 2 × 4 and 4 × 2 in are the same price. For rolls, also pick the unwind direction so labels come off the roll the right way up for your product or applicator.

How much text fits on a 2 × 4 in label?+

Plan for a brand, product name and a few lines such as flavour, weight or a short description. Keep important text and logos a little inside the cut line (about 1/16 in, 1.5 mm, is a good rule of thumb) and use a background that runs past the edge as bleed.

How big is 2 × 4 in in metric?+

About 51 × 102 mm. If your packaging drawings are metric, switch the quote builder to CM and type the size directly.

Will a 2 × 4 in label fit my bottle or jar?+

Measure the flat or straight part of the container. The label needs a panel at least 2 in by 4 in, with a little margin. If you want it to wrap all the way around, the long side (4 in) covers a round container of about 1.3 in diameter with a small gap.
