about $147.99 for 1,000As a mid-size long, narrow strip, 1 × 5.5 in suits shelf-edge and bin strips, binder, book and archive box spines and similar jobs. That is about 10% more label area than the 1 × 5 in rectangle. The label covers about 5.50 sq in (25 × 140 mm) and has room for a brand, product name and a few lines such as flavour, weight or a short description.
Not quite right? Compare rectangle labels one step smaller: 1.5 × 3.5 in, 2 × 2.75 in and one step larger: 1.5 × 3.75 in, 1.25 × 4.5 in, or browse all label sizes.
Leave the right edge clear if the label wraps a bottle, so the overlap or gap does not cut through text. There is room for hierarchy here: one large element, one medium line and small supporting text.

1 × 5.5 in rectangle labels FAQ
Prices and roll counts on this page are estimates. The quote builder gives your exact price before checkout, and every order starts with a free proof.
On matte rolls, 250 labels are about $126.44 CAD, 1,000 about $129.81 and 5,000 about $227.56 ($0.046 each). Prices are approximate, taken from our live price list on October 6, 2026. Enter your quantity in the quote builder for the exact total with standard shipping included.
Rolls are wound to order, so the count can be adjusted. Our guide figure is about 560 to 2,800 labels per single-lane roll, assuming a 3 in core and a roll up to 6 in across. The range depends on whether the long or short side runs along the roll, which follows the unwind direction you choose. Tell us in the order notes if your applicator needs something different.
Measure the flat or straight part of the container. The label needs a panel at least 1 in by 5.5 in, with a little margin. If you want it to wrap all the way around, the long side (5.5 in) covers a round container of about 1.8 in diameter with a small gap.
Plan for a brand, product name and a few lines such as flavour, weight or a short description. Keep important text and logos a little inside the cut line (about 1/16 in, 1.5 mm, is a good rule of thumb) and use a background that runs past the edge as bleed.
The price per label falls as quantity goes up: about $0.506 each at 250, $0.130 at 1,000 and $0.046 at 5,000. For bigger runs, choose a custom quantity in the quote builder to see the exact total.
