Is 8 × 9 in the right size?

Choose 8 × 9 in when you need a sign-size near-square rectangle; it works well for window, door and display stickers and bulk bags and sacks. That is about 7% more label area than the 7.5 × 9 in rectangle. The label covers about 72.00 sq in (203 × 229 mm) and has room for sign-style artwork: big graphics readable from across a room, or a full sheet of instructions, specs or a diagram.

Between sizes? Compare rectangle labels one step smaller: 7 × 10 in, 6.5 × 11 in and one step larger: 6 × 12 in, 7.5 × 10 in, or browse all label sizes.

Designing a 8 × 9 in rectangle label

Put the brand on the top third and the details below; on narrow strips run the name along the long side. Design at full size and check it from a few steps back: headline text should be large enough to read at a distance, and images need enough resolution for the print size (about 300 dpi at final size).

8 × 9 in rectangle labels FAQ

Common
questions.

Prices and roll counts on this page are estimates. The quote builder gives your exact price before checkout, and every order starts with a free proof.

How much do 8 × 9 in rectangle labels cost?+

On matte rolls, 250 labels are about $208.14 CAD, 1,000 about $555.34 and 5,000 about $1,493.64 ($0.299 each). Prices are approximate, taken from our live price list on October 6, 2026. Enter your quantity in the quote builder for the exact total with standard shipping included.

How many labels per roll for 8 × 9 in rectangle labels?+

Rolls are wound to order, so the count can be adjusted. Our guide figure is about 350 to 390 labels per single-lane roll, assuming a 3 in core and a roll up to 6 in across. Where you land in that range depends on the unwind direction: the long side running along the roll gives fewer labels per roll. Tell us in the order notes if your applicator needs something different.

Which material should I choose for 8 × 9 in rectangle labels?+

Matte BOPP is our default (about $555.34 for 1,000 at this size). Glossy is about $588.66, clear about $633.09 and freezer grade about $677.52 for the same 1,000. All of them are waterproof; choose freezer grade for cold or frozen products and clear for a no-label look.

Is 8 × 9 in the same as 9 × 8 in?+

Yes. Enter the width and height the way your artwork reads; 8 × 9 and 9 × 8 in are the same price. For rolls, also pick the unwind direction so labels come off the roll the right way up for your product or applicator.

How do I check that a 8 × 9 in label fits my container?+

Check the straight wall, not the curved shoulder or base: you need at least 8 × 9 in of flat or gently curved surface. Wrapped around a round container, a 9 in length covers one about 2.9 in across, leaving a small gap.

Do 8 × 9 in labels get cheaper per label in bulk?+

Yes. Per label, expect about $0.833 at 250, $0.555 at 1,000 and $0.299 at 5,000. Choose Custom quantity in the quote builder for anything larger.
